Volunteers needed - Soup kitchen
Description
I am looking for a couple of volunteers to help out in a soup kitchen on a Friday evening. The Cafe is situated in the west end of Glasgow, next to Dumbarton Road.
The Cafe opens at 6 and closes at 7. Volunteers are expected to show up at 5.30 to help set up (setting tables, getting food organised, light cleaning) and will be expected to stay until approximately 7.15 (help clear tables, empty bins, sweep floors, etc).
The food is delivered by local organisations so no food preparation is needed.
During the hour that the cafe is open to the service users, you will be expected to help serve food, make tea and coffee and keep the kitchen tidy.
We normally ask for 3 people to be on each shift, to ensure that the cafe runs smoothly.
I have been doing this for 3 years now and I love it. The volunteers and service users are lovely, it's good banter and I really feel like I am making a difference.
If you are interested in helping out, please contact me and we can arrange a date that is suitable for you to help out. If you like it we can put you on the rota for regular shifts. You can help out as much or little as you like, most people help out once a month.
